Wendy Shepherd of Studio Matrix has provided David with online publicity, consulting, social media and internet management since about the year 2017.
David has over 20 years experience in the entertainment industry and 10 of those years with production experience, as one of the original founding members and President of the independent film company Feenix Films. David began his foray into the industry as an actor and over the years developed the business, craft, and art of filmmaking.
After a brief experience in producing an off-Broadway show, David formed Feenix Films with Nick DeMatteo as Vice-President, Janine Laino as Treasurer. Kate McGrath joined soon thereafter as Business Director. In working with Feenix Films, David has been able to enjoy fashioning stories that provide “entertaining realism” by focusing on character development over spectacle. David has had his hand in everything from story-boarding, to talent acquisition, to rewriting scripts, to editing, to ultimately producing and directing projects.
David enjoyed receiving a Gold Remi at 2016’s Worldfest Houston in the Crime/Drama category for “Clandestine”. He also received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for “Clandestine” at Worldfest. The film also received a Best Actress Win for McGrath (Julia), a Best Actor Nomination for DeMatteo (Cooper), and a Best Supporting Nomination for Chris Ryan (Billman). “The Basement” (2012), a short David directed, received a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Leslie Coplin at SoCal Film Fest. “Dealer” (2012), a film David was a Producer and actor on, received an Audience Favorite Win at the FlipsideTV Film Festival. David has also been nominated for Best Screenplay for his first full length script “Nicky Newark” (2011) as well as receiving an honorable mention as Director for the film (the film being his first full length directorial debut) at LA Reel film Fest.
The ability to communicate, steer, and work with a cast and crew, while forming the tapestry that becomes a living and breathing piece of film, has been the true pinnacle of David’s career to date.
