Studio Matrix provides websites in various sizes. Start small with a domain name and a one-page designed site that links to your social networks… or go with a full website with several web-pages. Studio Matrix can also redesign your current website. Before contacting about web design and development, please gather ideas about navigation, color scheme, page content, etc. Designs are sometimes custom made or customized templates may be used, depending on your needs… but please state if you prefer a custom or template design. *Services must be pre-paid.
FIRST STEP: YOU’LL NEED A DOMAIN NAME
Do you have a website domain name? That is the web address people will be type in the browser to find you and/or your business online. It’s the first thing you need to purchase. If you don’t have a domain name yet, Studio Matrix uses and recommends you register your domain name with Hover. We’ve been using that company for years. We always buy the domain names separate from the website hosting in case one goes down or out of business, we can still access to the other. Click here to visit their site.
SECOND STEP: WEBSITE HOSTING
You’ll need to purchase hosting service for your website. You need website hosting for your images, web page, etc. This is usually a monthly fee. Studio Matrix uses and recommends you register your website hosting with Host Gator. Click here to visit their site. THIRD STEP: PREPARE and DECIDE
Once your domain name is purchased and your website hosting is in place, before you contact Studio Matrix, save yourself time and frustration by preparing and deciding what you need for your website.
You will need to decide the following. Write this down and answer the questions:
- What is your website going to be used for?
- How many pages do you need on your website?
- What will be on each page? *(used for navigation. for example: about, bio, contact, etc.)
- What type of navigation do you want? (across the top? down the left side?)
- What photos do you want used in the design?
- What color scheme do you want?
- Do you want a news system? (you can post your own news or have Studio Matrix do it for an extra monthly cost)
- Do you have any examples of sites you’ve seen?
- Gather your social network links in a document or text file.
- If you need a biography, get it written up.
- If you need manager/agent info on the site, gather it.
- When do you need your website done by?
- Make a note if you are looking to have video or music on the website.
- How much do you want on each page?
- Do you want a flash website or regular? (flash sites are harder for search engines to pick up; partial flash is fine)
- What is your target audience?
- How often will you need website maintenance?
- Write down any additional notes or questions you have.
- Prepay for your website design.
**Note, StudioMatrix doesn’t work with Flash at this time, so if you need it we’ll have to hire an outside company that can help.
FOURTH STEP: PREPAY
QUOTE from a web designer: “In the end, it comes down to time – people don’t know how long it takes and how much creative effort goes into building a website. People will pay $1500+ for a nice printer for their business, but when it comes to their online brand – their ONLINE BRAND!!!!! NOTE: Web design packages vary. If there are many changes during design, etc. additional costs may be involved. * If you need an hourly rate: $50-$150 depending on what is needed.
